Dr. Hotouras is a great surgeon who was comforting at every stage of my operation. He made me feel a lot less anxious about the procedure, and he seemed to have sympathy for my situation. The surgery was supposedly complex, with risks of further issues, yet it went great. He visited me almost daily while I stayed in Poplar Ward to check up on me; he used humour and was very positive when around me. I strongly recommend Dr. Hotouras to any patients needing to undergo a procedure.

I cannot fault the care, skills and expertise provided by Dr Hotouras who performed keyhole surgery for a bowel resection due to Crohn’s disease for me two weeks ago. He understands it is very worrying for a patient when they are told they need surgery and from the initial consultation he listened, provided clear and practical information about what would happen and genuinely wanted to answer questions. He was accessible, I felt he gave me time to make the decision but was also very honest about what the surgery would entail. Dr Hotouras is an extremely skilled surgeon as mine was more complicated however he has made such a difference to my health already by taking such care about how he performed the surgery. I fully believe this has helped my recovery be so positive and go well. Whilst in hospital Dr Hotouras and his team visited daily, he made sure he checked my progress himself and gave me time to ask questions and genuinely make sure I was doing well. He has called me since discharge to check how I am at home which is so reassuring. I would not have wanted anyone else operating on me, I can’t say enough how much trust I have and am in awe regarding how Dr Hotouras has helped me. I told him he has given me my life back and this is absolutely true. Thank you from GJ Marsh

Mr Hotouras listened to what I had to say about my symptoms and previous treatment. After further investigation, he saw me again and reassured me that I do not need further surgery at present. He inspired confidence in both me and my wife, and advised me on ways to lessen any symptoms I might have in future. Highly recommend him to any patient who is anxious about condition.

I met Doctor Hotouras after several colon surgeries, I woke up by him and a couple of other doctors by my bed. Doctor Alex explained that he was the surgeon behind my surgeries and explained what had happened and explained the challenges the surgeries came across. Till this day I can only thank God for him being the person to conduct my surgeries but not only that, but to also aid my healing process. He came to my ward, to my bedside, almost every day with a smile and fist full of optimism; he didn’t give up on me and he allowed me to trust him and the process. I went in hospital for a simple stoma reversal keyhole surgery but unfortunately things took such a turn that it was really hit and miss for me. Doctor Hotouras I can’t thank him enough for what I firmly believe was him saving my life. It really does show that knowledge of what you’re doing is 50% but the care, attention, determination, tenacity make up the other 50%. Along with the other doctors and nurses I have another great chance of life at the sweet age of 66. I don’t know anyone who needs colon surgery but if anyone reads this and chooses Dr Alex for such surgery you’ll be making the best decision you’ve ever made. Doctor Alex has literally brought tears of joy back into me and my daughter’s lives and I will continue to be grateful. Yours sincerely, Margaret .A

Alex was probably the best consultant I've ever seen from start to finish. He was friendly and put me at ease. He clearly explained everything that had happened to date and then the options going forward. He gave me a few different options, made sure I understood them, gave me his reccommendation but then made it clear that how my treatment progressed was entirely my choice. A really great example of patient centred care. I felt very comfortable and trusted him entirely with my care.
